  • A sofa or daybed of any size. A 60 in loveseat is 35 in deep, and adding it drops every remaining path under 24 in.
  • A 25 in deep vertical filing cabinet with the drawer facing into the walkway; the open drawer alone blocks 49 in of the room's 84 in width.

Window-Facing Desk

A 55-inch desk sits flat against the far 84-inch wall under the window, leaving about 14 inches at each end. At 28 inches deep it puts a 24-inch monitor at roughly 24 inches of eye distance once you allow for the keyboard zone. If the window faces south or west, plan on a light-filtering shade; otherwise you will be squinting past your own monitor from two in the afternoon onward.

Mistakes people make in this size room
